One Query, Every Register
A routine update pushes every barcode scan to 5 seconds. On the registers routed through Quentra the same query takes 0.1 seconds, 50 times faster.
The problem
A routine software update goes live at a supermarket chain: every barcode scan now includes an instant stock check. Inside that check is a scalar function (UDF) that scans the sales table on every call, and it runs again for every row.
What Quentra did
On the directly connected registers, per-item time climbs to 5 seconds; the cashier waits for the system while the queue grows. The problem isn't the hardware or the network; it's a single function call in the SELECT list.
The result
The registers that send the same query through Quentra get it rewritten in flight by a defined rule: the costly call goes, while FROM, WHERE and the parameters stay exactly the same. Time drops to 0.1 seconds, 50 times faster. Same hardware, same data, same application code; the only difference is the connection running through Quentra.
